It’s not every day that you get to deep fry ICE CREAM (yes, you read it right) with BBC Radio Derby!
The lovely Ian Skye and his crew popped into our shop today to settle a BBC Radio Derby office debate… can you deep fry ice cream?
Oli and the team at Chellaston spent the morning equipping themselves in variations of some of our all time favourite ice cream.
In the end we opted for a Fab (of course), a white chocolate Magnum, a Twister and a Cadbury’s Marvellous Creations ice cream.
After a couple of failed attempts (one involving a Twister disintegrating in boiling hot oil in seconds) we managed to get the perfect ‘ice cream frying’ combination.
We are all pleasantly surprised to find out that a deep-fried white chocolate Magnum is actually surprisingly nice (but also EXTREMELY messy)!
Twister wasn’t a particular favourite with the team but Cadbury’s Marvellous Creations ice cream certainly delivered!
After an eventful morning and many strange flavour combinations, it’s safe to say that you probably WON’T be seeing deep fried ice cream on our menu any time soon…
